Peter Jackson was born in 1961 in Wellington, New Zealand. He gained international fame for directing "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy (2001-2003), which earned him multiple Academy Awards, including Best Director for "The Return of the King." Jackson's first major foray into filmmaking was with the low-budget horror-comedy "Bad Taste" (1987), which he produced, directed, and starred in. He is also known for his personal collection of World War I aircraft and for directing the "The Hobbit" trilogy (2012-2014).
